1.Mrs. Potter was Mrs. Dursley’s sister, but they hadn’t met for several years; in fact, Mrs. Dursley pretended she didn’t have a sister, because her sister and her good-for-nothing husband were as unDursleyish as it was possible to be.
这里佩妮姨妈对詹姆的评价是good-for-nothing 一无是处。A tiny, subtle heartache here. 伏地魔杀害莉莉的夜晚，詹姆因为没有随身携带魔杖所以来不及反抗就被阿瓦达了，是否佩妮姨妈也在责怪詹姆没有保护好自己的妹妹呢？从这里也能体味到一点嫉妒憎恨以外的姐妹之情的残留吧。
2.Mr. Dursley was enraged to see that a couple of them weren’t young at all; why, that man had to be older than he was, and wearing an emerald-green cloak! The nerve of him!
让小赋感兴趣的是The nerve of him!这句话，译文是“真不知羞耻！”，但是看到了nerve这个词，不禁想到是不是可以翻译成“真是个神经病！”呢……好像又掌握了一些奇奇怪怪的英文小知识。(小孩子不要学)
3.She told him over dinner all about Mrs. Next Door’s problems with her daughter and how Dudley had learned a new word (“Won’t!”).
喜欢这里对“隔壁太太”的称呼，没有使用像neighbour这样的词汇，就很符合德思礼一家“循规蹈矩”又不想与邻居过分亲密的人设。
4.(1)”Couldn’t make us a cup o’ tea, could yeh? It’s not been an easy journey…”
He strode over to the sofa where Dudley sat frozen with fear.
“Budge up, yeh great lump,” said the stranger. Dudley squeaked and ran to hide behind his mother, who was crouching, terrified, behind Uncle Vernon.
“An’ here’s Harry!” said the giant.
(2)Nobody said a thing while the giant was working, but as he slid the first six fat, juicy, slightly burnt sausages from the poker, Dudley fidgeted a little. Uncle Vernon said sharply, “Don’t touch anything he gives you, Dudley.” The giant chuckled darkly.
“Yet great puddin’ of a son don’ need fattenin’ anymore, Dursley, don’ worry.”
这里原著和电影的呈现还是有区别的，小赋并不认为海格会把达力认成哈利，根据原著的描写，海格是知道达力的size的。（小赋截取了一段电影）不过电影里达力说“I am not Harry”倒挺有意思，因为影版达力的饰演者叫哈利·梅林！
5.”Borrowed it, Professor Dumbledore, sir,” said the giant, climbing carefully off the motorcycle as he spoke. “Young Sirius Black lent it to me. I’ve got him, sir.”
看英文原著才知道为什么小天狼星的名字是意译，按照原文的翻译应该是“年轻的西里斯·布莱克”，不过译成小天狼星确实给教父增加了神秘感。Pretty slick.
